KeNHA Closes Kisumu–Miwani–Chemelil Road

The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced the closure of the Kisumu – Miwani – Chemelil road for the next two days.

This is due to what the authority says is ongoing repair works in part of the road.

But in a post on their social media pages, KeNHA said the repair works have been necessitated by flash floods that washed away a box culvert on the road.

KeNHA wishes to notify the general public that the diversion Road at Miwani town, (next to the ongoing construction of the box culvert) on the Kisumu – Miwani – Chemelil (C674) Road has been washed away by flash floods,” said the authority on Thursday, September 8, 2022.

This has necessitated the closure of the Road for two days to allow for the repair and restoration of the diversion,” it added.

Alternative route

But with the latest development and ongoing repair works, KeNHA has advised motorists to use an alternative route of Chemelil – Awasi – Muhoroni.

KeNHA regrets the inconvenience that may be caused. The Authority endeavours to provide Quality Roads for a better connection,” noted the roads agency.

Further, several parts of the country have been experiencing heavy downpours in the last few days.

The most affected part is Western Kenya.
