KMTC Campuses Flourish in Year-Long Environmental Conservation Initiative

In a year marked by a resolute commitment to environmental conservation, KMTC campuses across the country have emerged as trailblazers in the nationwide effort to enhance tree coverage.

Collaborating with community leaders, stakeholders, as well as valued partners, KMTC campuses have been at the forefront of a collective endeavor to plant a substantial number of trees. This also aligns seamlessly with the overarching national tree-planting initiative, a cause passionately advocated by President Dr. William Ruto.

Under the Ministry of Health’s banner, KMTC collaborated with other health institutions in a notable tree-planting day, with 15,000 tree seedlings planted in Aramaket ECD Kapenguria, West Pokot County, under the leadership of Principal Secretary Ms. Mary Muthoni, Board Chairperson Mr. Joseah Cheruiyot, and CEO Dr. Kelly Oluoch.

Several KMTC campuses, including Kombewa, Taveta, Manza, Kapenguria, and others, also actively participated in tree-planting exercises throughout the year.

Noteworthy collaborations with the Agricultural Sector Development Programme (Kisumu County) as well as the Kenya National Highways Authority (KENHA) further strengthened KMTC’s impact. In addition, the College received substantial support from the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) Kapenguria Branch, emphasizing KMTC’s commitment to corporate social responsibility.

KMTC’s significant role in promoting environmental conservation

Impressive figures reveal the collective effort, with Eldoret and Uasin Gishu County alone planting a combined total of 16,000 exotic and 20,000 indigenous trees. These accomplishments highlight KMTC’s significant role in promoting environmental conservation beyond its premises and into community engagement.

In an additional stride towards sustainability, all KMTC staff members and students are participating in the initiative to plant 30 trees each annually for the next five years. This year alone, the College has contributed to the planting of thousands of trees, showcasing a remarkable commitment to environmental stewardship and community well-being.

As the College looks ahead, it remains steadfast in its dedication to environmental conservation and community well-being, poised to expand and enhance these initiatives in the coming years.
