Lang’ata MP Nixon Korir Concedes Defeat to Jalang’o

The outgoing Lang’ata Member of Parliament Nixon Korir has conceded defeat in the just concluded general election.

Korir, a UDA candidate was seeking a second term.

He was elected in 2017 on a Jubilee party ticket.

But following what he says is internal tallying that his team has done since polls closed on Tuesday evening, his main competitor Felix Odiwuor, alias Jalang’o, had won.

Jalang’o was vying for the seat on an ODM ticket.

He quit his job as a Kiss FM Radio Host to venture into politics.

To the people of Langata, I sincerely thank you for according me an opportunity to be your Member of Parliament for the last 5 years. Its been a great opportunity that gave me an avenue to contribute to our nation building and service to the people,” Korir said in a post on his Facebook page.

From the results that we’ve tallied at the Generali centre, my competitor Jalango has a lead and I want to congratulate him as he prepares to take the mantle and move Langata forward. Siasa si chuki. God bless Langata,” he added.

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has not yet announced the official result for the Lang’ata Constituency.

But Korir’s admission points to an imminent capture of the seat by ODM.

Lang’ata Constituency originally also had the current Kibra Constituency – and its MP before the two were divided in 2013 was the former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
