Lion’s Heart FC are the champions of the inaugural Kapsaos Festive Season Football Cup.
The team won the trophy in an entertaining final held on Sunday in Maili Nne area.
Sandana Community Initiative CBO organized the two-month tournament that started on November 4, 2023.
According to the Community Based Organization’s founder and chairperson Gil Nasiali, the tournament was aimed at ensuring no youth is involved in use of drugs.

“We wanted to involve the youth to stay away from drugs especially during the long December holiday,” Nasiali told Uasin Gishu News at the end of the tournament.
He noted that during the long December holiday, youths are usually exposed to the vulnerability of engaging into drugs hence the birth of the tournament’s idea.
The tournament was themed ‘Sporting for Sobriety: Heri Michezo Kuliko Vileo’.
It involved matches played across Kapsaos Ward in Turbo Sub County.
“As Sandana Community Initiative and as a leader of the CBO, my hope was that the the youths would get somewhere to get busy during the long holiday,” Gil Nasiali said.
“We didn’t have sponsors but I’m happy the tournament went on well. The youths are happy,” he added, pointing out that winners received Ksh10,000 cash prize and a trophy.

In the preceding days of the tournament, various guests visited to engage the young people from Kapsaos Ward on various life subjects.
They included officials from NACADA and Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) Department of Mental Health.
Equity Afya also offered a free medical camp.
Nasiali further said the tournament will be held annually during the long December holiday
