List of Aspirants Eyeing Ainabkoi MP Seat

Ainabkoi is one of the 6 constituencies in Uasin Gishu County.

As the country heads to the August poll, a number of aspirants have declared interest in vying for the Member of Parliament (MP) seat.

The majority of the aspirants are seeking the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket, with the area being home to Deputy President William Ruto.

Currently, William Chepkut is the Ainabkoi MP, and he is widely expected to seek re-election.

We take a look at individuals that will be seeking to take over from Chepkut;

Samuel Chepkong’a

He served as the MP for the constituency from 2013 TO 2017 but lost to Chepkut in the last poll.

Chepkonga is hoping to make a political comeback.

Chris Muktain

Chris Muktain.

He is among youthful aspirants for the Ainabkoi MP seat. Muktain played a key role in UDA membership recruitment in Uasin Gishu, and many consider him among the front runners for the seat.

Terry Maina

Terry Maina is the current chairperson of the Kenya Girl Guides Association. She boasts of over 20 years of experience in among others human resources management, executive coaching, and strategic leadership.

She has held senior positions in both private and public organizations. 

Daniel Chemno

Currently the Uasin Gishu Deputy Governor, Chemno is also in the race for a UDA ticket in Ainabkoi.

Prior to teaming up with Mandago in 2013, the DG unsuccessfully vied for the Eldoret South MP seat on an ODM ticket in the 2007 poll.

Dr. Mark Korir

He received elders’ and religious leaders’ blessings to vie for the seat early in December 2021.

Dr. Mark Korir hails from Kapchesorom village in Kaptagat ward. He has pledged to prioritize development and equity for the people of Ainabkoi if elected MP.

William Cherais

William Cherais.

This is another youthful aspirant in the Ainabkoi MP seat race.

Cherais is seeking to be the legislator through the National Vision Party (NVP), founded by the late powerful minister Nicholas Biwott.
