A section of elders from Ainabkoi on Saturday held special traditional prayers for Dr. Mark Korir, an aspiring Member of Parliament in the constituency for the upcoming general election.
The traditional prayers led by Elder Cheptorut among other elders and Rev. Ezekiel Yego of the Reformed Church of East Africa (RCEA) saw Dr. Korir Arap Cheplong get blessings for his political aspirations.
He was also handed a leadership rungu by the elders and his family members in an event held at his parents’ home in Kapchesorom village in the Kaptagat ward.
Speaking after the prayers, Dr. Korir promised to prioritize development and equity for the people of Ainabkoi if elected MP in the 2022 polls.
He also affirmed his commitment, to be honest, truthful and offer people-driven leadership for all.
Later, Dr. Korir joined locals for the hoisting of a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) branded wheelbarrow at Tendwo center.
A wheelbarrow is the UDA party symbol, through which he will be seeking a ticket to use as a political vehicle in the August 2022 polls.
Dr Korir will be battling for the UDA ticket against several aspirants among them the current MP William Chepkut, former MP Samuel Chepkong’a, and Terry Maina.
William Cheraisi is another aspirant for the Ainabkoi seat, which he will be vying on a National Vision Party (NVP) ticket.
