The final results are out and celebrations are ongoing for those that won in the respective seats they were eyeing.
But for those that lost, it is back to the drawing board, as they do an internal audit of what went wrong – hoping to rectify and come back stronger in 2027 – if they will still be interested in politics.
We take a look at some of the Members of the Uasin Gishu County Assembly that were not lucky enough to win re-election.
Lucy Ng’endo Chomba

First on the list is Huruma MCA Lucy Chomba. She won during the by-election in March 2021 after the death of her husband – Peter Chomba in 2020 but failed to get a full term after falling to Jubilee’s Wakili Kimani Wanjohi.
Ramadhan Ali
Kiplombe MCA for the last 10 years Ramadhan Werambo Ali was also not lucky this time round. He had been able to go against the wave, winning on an ODM ticket in the last two elections – 2013 and 2017, but it seems luck finally run out.
He finished second behind Kipchumba Lagat of UDA.
Hosea Lamai
MCA for Kapsaos for the last two terms and also the Uasin Gishu County Assembly Deputy Speaker during his reign, Hosea Lamai was narrowly edged out by Isaac Kibet in a race that saw the winner and second be differentiated by a paltry 13 votes.
Gilbert Tenai

Tenai was among the vocal MCAs in the County Assembly and had been tipped as the next majority leader.
But after successfully disputing his nomination loss to Gilbert Kipsang, he ended up losing to the same competitor in the general election.
Other MCAs that did not make it back to the Uasin Gishu County Assembly are Kipenyo’s Hillary Rono who lost to a UDA candidate, Stephen Chemalan of Ngeria and Moi’s Bridge MCA Phillip Tirop arap Melly.

They join Karuna/Meibeki’s Josphat Lowoi, Pius Kigen (Tembelio) and Gilbert Bett who lost during the UDA nominations in April 2022.
