Magnificent Photos of St John The Baptist Chapel Build By Mama Ngina Kenyatta

St. John the Baptist Chapel in Ichaweri, Kiambu County, a new landmark along Kenyatta Road, was consecrated on December 16, 2023.

The Chapel built by former First Lady Mama Ngina Kenyatta has been built on the foundations of the Ichaweri chapel that was put up by the late Mzee Jomo Kenyatta in 1971.

In her address to the congregants at the consecration mass, Mama Ngina said she made the decision together with her family to put up the church in honor of the love that the founding father had for God and the people.

His desire was to have a church within the community where people could gather together and worship. He had just come from detention in Maralal, Samburu County,” she noted.

Picturesque building

The consecration service was presided by The Most Reverend Philip A. Anyolo, the Metropolitan Archbishop of Nairobi alongside other members of the clergy.

St. John the Baptist Chapel is the 9th Church in the Arch-angel Mutomo Parish.

The picturesque building is a site to behold, depicting an antique cathedral, with finesse wood finishings, and stained glass windows illustrating service to God and humanity.

Former President Uhuru Kenyatta who also attended the service gave the vote of thanks, acknowledging all who had played a role in making the dream come true.

He especially thanked Mama Ngina Kenyatta for her determination confidence and dedication in ensuring that the chapel was built to its completion.

The consecration mass was attended by members of the Kenyatta family, friends, and members of the community.
