Mama Rachel Ruto Maternity Hospital in Eldoret Records Over 1,750 Deliveries in Just 9 Months

Mama Rachel Ruto Maternity Hospital, a beacon of healthcare excellence in Uasin Gishu has marked a major milestone, delivering over 1,754 babies since its launch in June 2024.

The facility which has become a cornerstone of maternal healthcare saw 1,597 normal deliveries and 157 cesarean sections, providing top-tier services to expectant mothers from across the region.

In the past 24 hours alone, the hospital has conducted 18 deliveries, with 12 normal deliveries and 6 cesarean sections and this is attributed to the consistent output of the facility’s robust capacity and commitment to ensuring safe, timely deliveries for all its patients.

With state-of-the-art equipment and a fully equipped Newborn Unit (NBU), Mama Rachel Ruto Maternity Hospital has also been handling a surge in cases and receiving patients from Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital and currently, 17 newborns are under the NBU’s care, benefiting from the hospital’s cutting-edge facilities and attentive healthcare staff.

Governor Dr. Jonathan Bii who toured the hospital on Friday, March 21, 2025, expressed his admiration for the hospital’s operations and commitment to quality care, commending the Social Health Authority for its crucial role in ensuring that the facility is fully supported, providing both maternal and newborn patients with comprehensive care.

This facility is a remarkable success story in our efforts to improve healthcare accessibility and quality in the region and we are proud of what Mama Rachel Ruto Maternity Hospital has achieved in such a short period and we will continue to support its operations to ensure the welfare of mothers and babies,” said Dr Bii.

Health Services County Executive Dr Abraham Serem together with his Preventive and Promotive Health Chief Officer Dr Paul Wangwe noted the surge in clients seeking services at the facility pledging to bridge the staffing gap to meet the clients’ needs.
