Ndalat village in Mosop Constituency, Nandi County, has been left in shock after a man allegedly killed his wife and three children.
The man identified as Ebenyo is said to have hacked his wife to death using a machete before poisoning his three children – two boys and a girl.
He later attempted to commit suicide by stabbing himself in the neck.
Locals in the village say, after committing the heinous act, Ebenyo who is from Turkana county surrendered to the Kabiyet Police Sation.
The locals found lifeless bodies of the wife and three children in their rented house in Ndalat Trading Centre after the man had surrendered.
“We were left in shock and disbelief when we discovered the lifeless bodies of the suspects’ wife and three children in their one-bedroomed rental house,” said a local.
The reason behind the shocking incident has not yet been established yet, although locals say Ebenyo has been having family-related issues with his wife.
The couple, locals say, would at times physically fight in their house.
Bodies of the four victims have been moved to the Kapsabet County Referral Hospital mortuary for preservation and anticipated postmortem even as police launch a probe into the incident.
“We are holding the man and he is helping us with investigations into the heinous act he is alleged to have committed against his wife and three children,” said a police officer who sought anonymity.
