Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago on Wednesday visited Segero/Barsombe Ward in Soy Sub County for a working tour.

Upon completion, the project is expected to serve Kokwet Primary school, Kokwet Cattle dip, Kokwet trading center, and over 200 households.

Mandago said the project will be equipped with a solar pump and pipes and water supplied to the homesteads.

He also acknowledged the scarcity of the commodity in the region and said his administration will work on increasing the source, by drilling more boreholes and distilling dams.

Kapsabul Water Project

Later, the county boss commissioned Kapsabul Water Project and an Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) classroom in the area.

The water project will serve the school and Barsombe dispensary as well as over 70 households within and beyond the area.

Mandago further revealed that Barsombe Dispensary will soon be upgraded to a Health center in a move aimed at improving service delivery.

The facility, once upgraded, will handle complex matters, reducing referrals. More health personnel will also be deployed.

Chemarer Multipurpose Cooperative Society Cooling Plant

While still on his working tour, the governor officially opened the Chemarer Multipurpose Cooperative Society cooling plant.

The Cooperative society buys milk from farmers at Ksh42 per liter and receives over 4,000litres of milk every day.

Chemarer Cooperative is among 23 fully equipped facilities with a cooling plant funded by the County Government of Uasin Gishu.

Mandago was impressed by the progress of the milk cooling plant and thanked the management for a job well done.

To wrap up his working visit to Segero/Barsombe, the county boss met several women groups from the ward in Cheptuon.

The women groups are practicing table banking. The groups under the umbrella of Seet Kobor Kokwet are also in the process of forming a Cooperative Society.

Mandago joins women for a dance during his visit to Segero/Barsombe ward on March 9, 2022.

Governor Mandago encouraged them to expedite it so as to benefit from the affordable loans through Cooperatives Enterprise Development Fund which loans out funds at five percent interest.
