The acting Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr. Philip Kirwa, on Thursday, hosted Toby and Chelimo Tanser of Shoe4Africa Foundation.
The two who are the sponsors of Shoe4Africa Children’s Hospital and the upcoming 162-bed Julie Anne Perry Pediatric Cancer Hospital, paid Dr Kirwa a courtesy call in his office.
During the meeting, they discussed the ‘Africa Children’s Health Village’ concept, a Pediatric services section of the Hospital that would include the Sidekick Foundation-supported Harry J. Dyer Kid’s Burns Unit and The Shoe4Africa Idella Rome Consultants Room.
Upon completion, the Children’s Village will be the largest public Hospital in Africa.
When was the site for construction of Julie Anne Perry Pediatric Cancer Hospital handed over?
On December 22, 2023, the MTRH acting boss handed over the sites for the construction of Juli Anne Perry Pediatric Cancer Hospital and Harry J. Dyer Burns Hospital to the Contractor.
Toby Tanser, CEO of Shoe4Africa Foundation, the Project Sponsor for the Pediatric Cancer Hospital was present at the event.
He also represented the Sidekick Foundation who are the sponsors for the Harry J. Dyer Burns Hospital.
The 162-bed Juli Anne Perry Pediatric Cancer Hospital will have; wards, outpatient clinics with chemotherapy suites, ICUs and theaters for comprehensive pediatric cancer treatment while the 62-bed Harry J. Dyer Burns Hospital will be adjacent to the Paediatric Cancer Hospital.
The three hospitals will form the Children Village Complex which will be the biggest children’s Hospital in Africa.
Construction of the two projects will commence this month (January 2024) and is expected to be ready by mid-2025.
