Mutei Grannies are the winners of the inaugural Grannies Tournament.
The grandmothers displayed unmatched skills to dismiss Kipkenyo FC from Uasin Gishu by a solitary goal to emerge winners in the tournament that brought together 25 teams across five counties.
Fresh from an international outing in South Africa, the Mutei Grannies proved their international exposure through dribbles and long passes that gave them possession as their opponents desperately looked for an equaliser to no avail.

Elgeyo Marakwet First Lady Fiona Rotich, who graced the occasion, said the event was timely for promoting fitness and wellness among elderly women under the inspiring theme ‘Kick for Health’ at a time the society is fighting lifestyle diseases.
Grannies Federation President Elizabeth Keitany congratulated the Mutei Grannies, who were crowned champions.
The Mutei Grannies also recently represented Kenya at the international tournament in South Africa.
Deputy Governor Prof Grace Cheserek said the tournament was beyond the physical fitness as it also enabled women from the participating counties from Baringo, Nandi, Uasin Gishu, Kakamega and Elgeyo Marakwet gain exposure.

Elgeyo Marakwet County Assembly Speaker Lawi Kibire, CECMs Michael Kibiwott and Purity Koima, and Chief Officers Lily Kimetto and Isaac Koech were also present.
