Natembeya Ahead of Chris Wamalwa in Trans Nzoia Gubernatorial Race – TIFA Poll

A latest TIFA County Poll has revealed that former Rift Valley regional commissioner George Natembeya has the highest popularity rating in the race for the Trans Nzoia gubernatorial seat.

Natembeya, a Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) candidate polled 56 per cent in popularity, compared to Chris Wamalwa, his closest competitor who had 21 per cent.

The current Kiminini Member of Parliament is using the Ford Kenya party as his vehicle.

Wildred Muraya came a distant third with 2 per cent popularity.

19 per cent of respondents that took part in the TIFA County Poll said they were still undecided on who they will vote for.

In the Trans Nzoia Senatorial race, it is a neck-to-neck contest between former Senator Henry Ole Ndiema and youthful Allan Chesang, who both polled 24 per cent in popularity.

Ole Ndiema that served as Senator between 2013 and 2017 is seeking to make a comeback using the Ford Kenya party, while Chesang is eyeing the seat on a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party ticket.

DAP-K’s Joshua Werunga is third in the race with a 7 per cent popularity.

Others eyeing the Trans Nzoia Senate seat are Richard Chesebe (4%), Omari Wafula (2%) and Eng. Cheptoo Morei (1%).

The Tifa Poll however show that a majority of Trans Nzoia locals (37%) still remain undecided.

In the crowded Woman Representative contest, UDA’s Lilian Siyoi is ahead with 22 per cent popularity, followed by Ford Kenya’s Susan Nakhumicha who polled 11 per cent.

DAP-K’s Phanice Khatundi and incumbent Janet Nangabo are tied at third with 8 per cent popularity each.

Eunice Karanja (4%) and Susan Nelima (3%) are other candidates in the race.

DP Ruto’s popularity in Trans Nzoia

The TIFA poll, however, shows that any of the top three candidates in the Trans Nzoia Woman Rep seat can emerge victorious in the August 9 poll, as there is 40 per cent of the voters yet to make up their mind on who they will vote for.

Trans Nzoia County remains a battleground between Azimio and Kenya Kwanza in the presidential race.

Based on the latest survey, Azimio’s Raila Odinga has an upper hand against Deputy President William Ruto.

The poll shows that Raila’s popularity is at 50 per cent, while DP Ruto has 42 per cent.

Roots Party presidential candidate Prof. George Wajackoya has a 3 per cent popularity in Trans Nzoia.
