New Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) Board Inaugurated

Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe on Tuesday, December 14, 2021, inaugurated the new Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) board.

The new board is chaired by Sitoyo Lopokoiyit with other members being Alois Nderi, Sharon Sang, Dr. Michael Ndugu, James Muchiri Ndugu, Prof. Robert Kuremu Tenge, Mark Lugwisa, and Dr. Wilson K Aruasa who is also the hospital’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Speaking shortly after the inauguration, Sen. Kagwe, commended the MTRH Board, Staff, and Management for having continued to offer exemplary services, even during the peaks of the COVID-19 pandemic.

He congratulated MTRH for excelling in its mandate.

Through the last 5 annual Performance Contracts, MTRH has remained at the top in the Performance Management System within the Ministry of Health and amongst all State Corporations across all Ministries.

This demonstrates that your Customers/Patients have a positive experience of your services, are satisfied and delighted, a huge pillar for your Institutional success. Well done and keep it up,” said the CS.

Kagwe noted that the success of MTRH is a reflection of the medical success story in the country which should be emulated by other Institutions.

He further acclaimed the Hospital for the recently commissioned multi-million shillings National Government projects which, besides enhancing service delivery, have led to new and improved service streams-a path towards sustainability.

They include; the largest Hospital-based Oxygen Generating Plant producing 2,000 liters of oxygen per minute, Chandaria Cancer and Chronic Diseases Centre, Radiotherapy and Brachytherapy Cancer Machines, and the Nawiri Recovery & Skills Centre for mental health rehabilitation.

Dr. Aruasa on his part observed that MTRH staff have ingrained the Quality Culture, Capacity Development, and Continual Improvement.
