Kapseret MP-elect Oscar Sudi has come under criticism after he demanded that Uasin Gishu County Commissioner Stephen Kihara resigns.
This is concerning his role in the just concluded General Election.
Kihara was among several government officers that were accused of campaigning for the Azimio coalition as well as plotting chaos in the Rift Valley region before the August 9, 2022, general election.
And speaking during the swearing-in ceremony of Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii Chelilim alias Koti Moja, Sudi demanded that the County Commissioner resigns.

The swearing-in ceremony was held at the Eldoret Sports Club and attended by several other elected MPs in Uasin Gishu.
“…lazima tuambiane ukweli. Wewe kaunti komishona pia unajua ulitenganisha watu wetu hapa na vitina mingi. Sisi tumekusamehe but you must resign. Hatuwezi kubali hiyo maneno,” Sudi said in part of a video that has been doing rounds on social media.
“…siasa imeisha kaunti commissioner ujipange my frend lazima uende nyumbani,” he added.
But this sentiment has since attracted mixed reactions from some prominent individuals in the country.
Those allied to the Azimio coalition team have since hit out at the vocal legislator, warning that should such demands be allowed to stand, Kenyan was headed back to the KANU era.

“Surely, fiongos wa ponde la ufa have started issuing ultimatums to public servants…@HonOscarSudi, mtangoja sana,” said ODM director of communications Phillip Etale in a tweet where he had shared the video.
“Civil Servants are now going to be fired in political rallies and meetings? Is this the freedom we were told it is coming?” asked prominent lawyer Donald Kipkorir.
Blogger Robert Alai, now the Kilimani MCA-elect, also waded into the issue, terming Oscar Sudi’s demands as wrong.
“Revenge, vindictiveness and targeting of junior officials is such a sad thing. I wonder why Sudi is going this route or if he has the authority of his boss. This is wrong!,” said Alai who won the seat on an ODM ticket.
KOT side with Oscar Sudi
However, some of the Kenyans on Twitter sided with Sudi, arguing that he did not say anything wrong.
“Oscar Sudi is right. We can’t have civil servants engaging in politics, they even go ahead to encourage war and violence and convince our youths and children that it’s the right. Such leaders shall be forgiven but must resign from offices,” tweeted @MuriukiMaina_.
“We need to be honest with ourselves, why are some people here condemning Oscar Sudi for calling out the County Commissioner, Uasin Gishu County for wanting to ignite chaos during elections that would ultimately lead to bloodshed? Let him resign and go home.. simple.,” added @migosi_brian.
Transfered
But even as the Kapseret MP was demanding the resignation of Kihara, the Ministry of Interior and National Coordination had already transferred him to Embu.
The latest changes communicated to regional commissioners in a letter dated August 23, 2022, have seen 8 county commissioners moved.
