Its good news for the tourism sector in the North Rift region following the resumption of paragliding sport in Iten, Elgeyo Marakwet County, after a hiatus.
The adventure sport was relaunched on Saturday February 28, 2026, at Kerio View in Iten.
The event was presided over by Belgian Ambassador to Kenya, Peter Maddens, and Elgeyo Marakwet County Secretary, Lazarus Chebii.

Iten has become a popular destination for paragliding enthusiasts owing to its spectacular escarpments which are perfect for the sport.
Several world records have been set over the Kerio Valley skies and this stimulated alot of interest from foreign paragliders who throng Iten annually to fly.
The County Secretary, who represented Governor Wisley Rotich at the event, said the County Government would continue to partner with tourism stakeholders to further develop the sport.

Also present at the event were County Executive Committee Member (CECM) incharge of Tourism, Robert Kangogo and Chief Officer, Liz Korir among others guests.
