Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii has assured a conducive and friendly environment for the business community and the well-being of the residents across the County.
Speaking while flagging off the Revenue Enhancement Team (CRET), Monday, Bii encouraged the trades and residents to pay respective rates and business permit fees before the deadline to avoid being penalized.
The dateline for business licence fee payment has been set for March 31, 2023.
Payment of the fees, the county boss said, was the only way to promote the growth and development of the County.

“We need to have enough funds to support the administration and run the County activities in all departments timely so as to benefit our people and grow our County,” Bii said.
He also urged the Revenue Enhancement Team to be friendly to the business community since they are only there to ensure compliance.
According to Bii, the revenue team should not be feared by the residents and traders advising that they should properly identify themselves and uphold their code of conduct while collecting the revenues on the ground to avoid misunderstanding and mishandling by the clients.
Ksh1.4B revenue target
Deputy Governor Eng. John Barorot on his part said traders and locals who will fail to pay for the rates and business licences will get a 50 per cent penalty after the lapse of the deadline.

He called on the business community and locals to pay on time as this will help the County surpass the revenue collection target of Ksh1.4 billion.
“We are going for compliance. We wish that our clients yield to our efforts to make Uasin Gishu great,” said Eng Barorot.
County Executive for Finance and Economic Planning Micah Rogony and his Trade counterpart Martha Cheruto affirmed their commitment to the collection of revenue across the streams.
Some of the fees the county seeks to collect from the business community include business permits, signage, public health, betting, as well as food handling among others.
