In a bid to make Iten Town a World Class Metropolis, the County Government of Elgeyo Marakwet is putting final touches on the Iten Recreational Park set to be opened soon.
Governor Wisley Rotich’s administration has fast tracked the completion of the Park that will give Iten an international feel.

Recently, Iten was awarded the World Heritage Plaque by World Athletics, formerly IAAF, as a world destination for athletics.
The Park therefore compliments the decision by World Athletics to place Iten on the World map.

Once complete, the park will have a Gazebo style hotel, curio shops, a garden, a kids corner, basketball pitch and changing rooms, an arena for events with terraces, ample parking area among other amenities.
The Park, overlooking the breathtaking Kerio Valley escarpment, is expected to attract many local and foreign tourists, thus promoting business within Iten.

The County Government is also currently in the process of rehabilitating and rebranding Rimoi National Reserve. Visitors can thus stop by the Iten park enroute to Rimoi.
