Preparations for Uasin Gishu Interfaith Prayers at Advanced Stage

Preparations for Sunday’s Uasin Gishu County Interfaith Thanksgiving Prayers to be held in Eldoret are in top gear, the clergy and leaders have affirmed.

Led by the African Inland Church (AIC) Kenya Bishop Luka Maiyo and Governor Jackson Mandago, the Eldoret Teachers Advisory Centre (TAC) Grounds was on Tuesday, May 10, 2022, inspected and chosen for the prayers event.

The event will be coming as a thanksgiving after last month’s peaceful United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party elections.

Organizers say the event will also be a platform to pray for the Nation ahead of the August 9 general election.

This is a special prayer meeting that God has anointed,” said Bishop Maiyo.

We want to thank God for a peaceful nomination and as leaders in UDA, we will yet again affirm our commitment to peace,” added Mandago, who won the nomination to be the UDA Senate candidate.

The outgoing county boss welcomed all residents in the North Rift region for the prayers that are set to be conducted on Sunday 15th, from 9 am.

Mandago addressing the press at the TAC center on May 10, 2022.

We welcome all the residents of our county to come to thank God with us. It has been a tough political season but God has seen us through. We will also pray for peace and good health as we approach the August general election,” Mandago said.

Other leaders who were present during the inspection of the venue include Uasin Gishu UDA Governor Nominee Jonathan Bii Chelilim alias Koti Moja and the Uasin Gishu Council of Imams and Preachers of Kenya (CIPK) branch chairman Sheikh Abubakar Bini.

In a media briefing, Jonathan Bii expressed the need for the county to remain united and peaceful irrespective of whether one won or lost during the nominations.

Similar sentiments were shared by the Muslim leader.

We have for long been known as a violence hot spot but we want to show the rest of the country that we are past that and that all communities living in this county are now united and cohesive like never before,” said Sheikh Bini.

Mama Rachael Ruto, wife to Deputy President William Ruto is expected to be the chief guest for the event that will also be attended by all UDA nominees in the county.
