Jenga Mkenya Movement leader Reuben Kigame has called for the resignation of President William Ruto and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua.
Kigame in a statement issued on Wednesday, June 27, 2024, claimed the two leaders no longer have the mental and emotional capacity to lead the country.
According to the veteran gospel musician, the Kenya Kwanza administration should be given three months to wind up and pave the way for a transition government that will oversee a new election.
“We, therefore, advise that President Ruto, his deputy and the entire administration should resign for lacking mental and emotional capacity, knowledge, wisdom and professionalism to lead Kenya to its desired destiny,” Kigame said in part of a statement sent to newsrooms.

“We demand that they be given 90 days to wind up their administration, set up transitional systems to a new election and allow the people of Kenya to elect a new government that can serve Kenyans living today and those who come after us,” he added.
What does withdrawal of 2024 Finance Bill mean?
Concerning President Ruto’s decision to bow to pressure and decline to sign into law the controversial 2024 Finance Bill, the Jenga Mkenya Movement said it was also an indication of a deeper problem within the current administration.
Ruto on Wednesday evening agreed to the demands of the protesting young Kenyans and sent back the bill – with a recommendation to delete all the clauses.
Members of Parliament passed the bill on Tuesday despite widespread protests mostly coordinated and led by young people.

“Jenga Mkenya is convinced that Finance Bill 2024 which has been withdrawn is only the tip of the iceberg and a byproduct of deeper systemic problems in Ruto’s administration. Displeasure and opposition to Finance Bill 2023, should have been sufficient warning that the country was unable to put up an effective economic policy for Kenya,” Kigame said in the statement.
“Finance Bill 2024 reveals a dysfunctional, oppressive, dictatorial, corrupt and incompetent administration. No amount of withdrawal or good-sounding press statements can fix a government that is committed to greed, wild expenditures, hypertaxation and clueless policies,” he added.
What did DP Gachagua accuse Noordin Haji of?
The musician who was among the 2022 presidential aspirants also listed accusations of DP Gachagua towards the National Intelligence Service (NIS) Director General Noordin Haji as another indication that the Kenya Kwanza administration can no longer take the country forward.
Gachagua accused Haji of failing to provide necessary intelligence to the President and the government, leading to the current situation.
“The indictment of DPP Haji by the deputy President and his call for Haji’s resignation signifies a dangerous crack in our security operations and jeopardizes objectivity in the management of the current demonstrations,” noted the veteran gospel singer who has already declared that he will vie for the presidency in 2027.
