Mizani Africa on Monday, August 1, 2022, released an opinion poll revealing who the leading gubernatorial candidates were in a number of counties.
The poll was released barely a week before Kenyans to go the polls to elect their preferred new leaders that will serve for the next five years.
In Murang’a, the poll conducted between 21st and 23rd July 2022, puts Jubilee candidate Jamlek Kamau ahead in the race, with a 33.5 per cent popularity.
His main rival Irungu Kang’ata of UDA comes second with 31.2 per cent.
Former Water and Irrigation Principal Secretary Wairagu wa Maai polled 21.0 per cent while Irungu Nyakera of the Farmers party is fourth with a 10.7 per cent popularity.

Incumbent Joseph Ole Lenku has been rated the most popular gubernatorial candidate in Kajiado with a 45.7 per cent popularity.
Ole Lenku who was elected in 2017 on a Jubilee ticket is seeking re-election on an ODM ticket.
UDA’s Katoo Ole Metito is second with 30.6 per cent in popularity.
Former Governor David Nkedianye is third with a popularity rating of 20.4 per cent.
Nkedaianye is in the gubernatorial race on a Jubilee party ticket.

For Nakuru County, the current Senator Susan Kihika seems to be headed for a win against her main rival and incumbent governor Lee Kinyanjui.
The Mizani Africa poll has given Kihika of UDA a 59.2 per cent popularity.
Governor Kinyanjui, seeking re-election on a Jubilee ticket comes second with a 36.3 per cent popularity.
Other candidates in the race, Stanly Karanja, Munyua Waiyaka, James Kiarie Muingai and Elija Chege Karanja polled under three per cent in popularity.

In Laikipia County, UDA’s Kiarie Badilisha has a commanding 60.2 per cent popularity, against his main rival, the current county boss Francis Kimemia of Jubilee who has a 28.5 per cent popularity.
Former Laikipia County Assembly Speaker Ndegwa Wahome comes a distant third with 4.6 per cent.
Ann Waiguru is ahead in Kirinyaga with 45.0 per cent, followed by her fierce rival Wangui Ngirici, who has 37.4 per cent popularity.
Waiguru is seeking re-election on a UDA ticket while Ngirici is an independent candidate.
