A team of 12 exhibitors that will be representing Uasin Gishu at the East Africa Community Trade Fair was on Monday, December 5, 2022, flagged off.
County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Trade, Investment, Tourism Industrialization and Cooperatives Eng. Martha Cheruto presided over the event held at county headquarters in Eldoret town.
Speaking during the event, Eng. Cheruto affirmed the county’s commitment to working towards promoting the Jua Kali sector and enterprise development both locally and internationally.

This, she said, will be achieved through value addition, textile and woodwork.
The CECM further urged the exhibitors to go and be champions as they are the face of the county. The exhibitors were selected after going through a rigorous process.
Acting Trade Chief Officer Kipleting Mengich said that this year’s exhibition had the largest number of exhibitors from the Jua Kali sector. She challenged them to raise their standards even higher.

On his part, acting Cooperative and Enterprise Development Chief Officer Isaac Lagat called on them to use the opportunity and look for a network of their products noting that this may see them export their products across the East Africa Countries.
The 22nd East Africa Community Trade Fair is expected to run from 8th to 18th December 2022 in Kampala, Uganda.
