Uasin Gishu Trade, Industrialization and Tourism Chief Officer Geoffrey Tanui on Thursday hosted a team from Kenya Tourism Board (KTB).
The team led by Cynthia Kinyeru met the Chief Officer for courtesy call where they discussed the endorsement of tourism experience and content packaging for the County.
Uasin Gishu is among 15 counties that were selected by KTB for Tourism sector’s content packaging with an aim of enhancing visibility of their unique attractions and experiences.
During their discussions, CO Tanui lauded the board for considering Uasin Gishu as one of the counties that has various untapped tourism potentials.
He also urged them to focus on sports tourism, mice tourism and water base tourism among others.
On their part, the Kenya Tourism Board team affirmed their dedicated to promoting Kenya’s diverse tourism destinations both domestically and internationally.
“We are also in this county for the creation of a video message that will endorse tourism experience and attraction fostering local pride and support,” said Kinyeru.
Traditional herbal sauna
Later, the team led by Tourism Director Margaret Aiyabei visited a traditional herbal sauna where middle and aged people receive treatment for various ailments by inhaling natural heat-blended with a variety of tested herbs.

Richard Kosgei, the sauna’s Director said the steamed traditional herbs have helped many people across the country.
He further urged Uasin Gishu County residents especially those battling diabetes, high blood pressure, and arthritis among other serious conditions to visit the facility.
The facility which is located opposite Eldoret Brookside’s depot receives over 200 patients daily.
