Uasin Gishu ODM Chairman Officially Welcomed To UDA by Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi

David Songok, the immediate former Uasin Gishu ODM chairman has officially been welcomed to the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi welcomed Songok to the party on Friday, December 24, 2021, in an event held at the Uasin Gishu UDA offices in Pioneer estate, on the outskirts of Eldoret town.

The former Uasin Gishu ODM chair will be vying for the Turbo Member of Parliament seat in the upcoming poll.

Speaking during the event, Sudi described Songok as a man of principles, expressing happiness that he has finally seen the light.

“This is a man of principles, all those years, he has been against us but because he has seen that UDA is a party for all, he has agreed to join us,” said the vocal MP.

The legislator, a key ally of Deputy President William Ruto further assured all aspirants seeking the UDA ticket that the party will hold a free and fair nomination.

“Now that we have welcomed Songok, he is part of us and will be allowed to vie for Turbo MP seat like any other aspirants. In UDA, no one will be favored, everybody will vie for the seat he/she wants and the people will decide on who they want,” Sudi said.

After he was formally received to the party, Songok said he decided to quit the ODM party after realizing that it had no chance to form the next government.

He also pointed out that in UDA, every Kenyan will be accommodated, unlike the other political outfits he claimed were for a select few.

“My people and I have now joined UDA. This is the end of ODM in Uasin Gishu,” said Songok, who unsuccessfully vied for the Turbo MP seat in 2017.

Songok will now be seeking to fly the UDA ticket in the cosmopolitan constituency – a seat that has attracted a number of aspirants among them the current Eldoret Municipal Board chairman Julius Kitur, a former councilor, Gospel singer Moses Sirgoi, and the current MP Janet Sitienei, among others.
