Uasin Gishu County Executive Committee Member for Education, Vocational Training, Gender, Social Protection, and Gender, Anthony Sitienei, on Friday, presided over the 9th Graduation Ceremony of Cambridge Universal College.
Over 200 students graduated in an event held at the ASK Show Grounds in Eldoret town.
Speaking during the event, CECM Sitienei challenged the new graduates to remain positive even as they transition into the job market.
“We have endless opportunities awaiting you. Treat each day as the first of the rest of your life,” he said
Further, the County Executive revealed that as a way of encouraging more students to join Vocational Training Centres (VTCs), more funds have been committed to provide bursaries to those who will be enrolling to the institutions managed bydevolved united.
Sitienei said for the last few years, VTCs have been struggling with low enrolment.
“As a county, this financial year, we have a lot of emphasis on TVET and VTCs so that we encourage students to enrol,” Sitienei said.
“Each VTC will get Ksh1 million for Bursaries. We are also going to equip them so that students can do practical work with modern facilities,” he added.
Uasin Gishu has 13 VTCs that they manage.
