UDA Set to Win All Elective Seats in Nandi County – Mizani Africa

The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party will win all elective seats in Nandi County for the upcoming general election, the latest opinion poll has revealed.

An opinion poll released by Mizani Africa on June 30, 2022, has revealed that all UDA Candidates for Member of Parliament, Senate and Governor seats are leading in popularity.

In the gubernatorial race that has attracted 5 candidates, incumbent Stephen Sang is leading with a 52.6 per cent popularity.

Former Governor Cleophas Lagat, vying as an independent candidate, is second with a 35.0 per cent popularity.

Others in the race are Joseph Kiptarus Boor (7.9%), Anderson Kibet Serem (3.0%) and Nicholas Tirop who has a 1.1 per cent popularity.

Samson Cherargei is leading the pack of three other candidates eyeing his Senate seat with 62.0 per cent popularity, followed by Aloysius Yego Cheptilyet who has a 24.6 per cent popularity.

Mark Kirwa (11.6%) and Geoffrey Kimeli Maswai (1.3%) are third are fourth respectively.

Cynthia Muge has unassailable popularity of 78.3 per cent in the Women Rep seat race with her lone challenger Stella Chepkemboi Rutto poling 13.5 per cent, based on the Mizani Africa opinion poll.

In the MPs race, all the UDA candidates are leading, with the hottest race being that of the Nandi Hills constituency.

UDA’s Bernard Kitur has a 52.7 per cent approval, compared to incumbent MP Alfred Keter’s 41.4.

Keter is seeking re-election as an independent candidate.

Another candidate in the race is Kelvin Kipchirchir Keter, who has a 3.9 per cent popularity.

Josses Lelmengit is ahead of former Nandi Woman Rep Tecla Tum in the Emgwen seat race with 47.3 per cent popularity.

Tum vying who is an independent candidate has 27.3 per cent popularity with Samuel Kimutai Rotich ranking third at 17.7 per cent.

In Aldai Constituency, Maryanne Keitany has a 55.4 per cent popularly followed by incumbent Cornel Serem who has 27.6 per cent and Jacon Koech Kiprop (12.0%).

Abraham Kipsang Kirwa has the highest popularity ranking in Mosop with 56.0 per cent, followed by incumbent Vincent Tuwei alias ‘Jembe Nne’ who has 40.0 per cent.

Paul Biego has a 78.7 per cent popularity ranking in the Chesumei MP seat race while Wilson Kogo, the incumbent, comes a distant second (19.4%).

Incumbent Julius Melly is leading in Tinderet Constituency with 76.2 per cent, with his only challenger Peter Kiptanui Leley coming second at 13.8 per cent in popularity.

Mizani Africa did their opinion poll between 24th and 28th June 2022, through random sampling distributed proportionately among the 6 Constituencies.

1,607 respondents were sampled during the opinion poll done through telephone interviews.
