In a bid to curb the trade and consumption of illicit alcohol and drug abuse, the County Government of Uasin Gishu led a multi-agency operation that saw up to 60 litres of a chemical suspected to be ethanol used for making illicit brews as well as dozens of different brands of counterfeit alcohol nabbed.
Speaking as he led the operation, Director Alcoholic Drinks Control Board Mark Tarus, said the seized substances included alcohol branded as Silver Star and Golden Dream.
The operation was conducted in Kimumu Ward, Wednesday night.
According to Moiben Sub County police commander Stephen Okal and Ainabtich OCS Jacob Mairori, they nabbed 60 litres of suspected ethanol, three (250litres) plastic containers, keg containers, empty bottles and already packaged drugs ready for distribution.
