The county government of Elgeyo Marakwet, Department of Health Services opened a maternity unit at Maron dispensary on Tuesday, July 19, 2022.
Maron Marichor is located in Embobut Embolot Ward and this is one of the facilities that serve a large population.
Opening of the maternity has been described as a milestone in healthcare in the far-flung areas of the County where residents used to travel long distances to access vital services in the past.
County Health Chief Officer Mary Kipchumba graced the event that was also attended by area Member of the County Assembly (MCA) Paul Lomsani.

Addressing the occasion, Kipchumba said that the County Government of Elgeyo Marakwet was committed to increasing investment in health care.
She added that Governor Alex Tolgos ‘ administration has purchased an ambulance for Embobut Embolot Ward which is due for delivery.
“To ensure all expectant mothers are safe and that they get quality health services, I encourage mothers to deliver in the nearest maternity facility. Let’s embrace hospital delivery because it will reduce maternal and neonatal deaths,” Kipchumba urged the community.
At the same time, the department carried out outreach services where the community members were screened for cancer, Hypertension and diabetes.

They were also offered family planning services and the Covid-19 vaccine.
