David Kiplagat Promises Fair, Equitable Distribution of CDF as He Launches Soy MP Bid

Uasin Gishu County Assembly Speaker David Kiplagat on Monday, December 20, 2021, officially declared his interest to vie for the Soy Member of Parliament (MP) seat.

In a colorful event at Ziwa Centre, Kiplagat also officially launched his campaigns ahead of the August 2022 general election.

“The journey to a better Soy has begun and I am happy that we are walking it together,” David Kiplagat said after the event that saw hundreds of locals attend.

During the event, the Uasin Gishu County Assembly Speaker pledged to ensure a fair and equitable distribution of the National Government – Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF).

The funds, he said, will among others “support small-scale enterprises and startups through accessible loans with no interest”.

As a Member of Parliament, David Kiplagat also pledged to focus on coming up with legislation that will support the bottom-up economic model being championed by Deputy President William Ruto, who is eyeing the presidency.

And with Soy being an agricultural constituency, the MP aspirant also promised to help ensure the management of cereals is anchored in law.

Women and youth empowerment as well as Universal Health Care for all through National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) are other areas that David Kiplagat pledged to focus on, should he be elected Member of Parliament.

“We will make Soy better for all,” he promised.

David Kiplagat will be seeking to be the third Soy MP, and succeed Caleb Kositany who is eyeing the Uasin Gishu gubernatorial seat.
