Uasin Gishu County Chief Officer for Roads, Transport and Public Works Engineers Abraham Kiptalam has challenged Engineers, Inspectors, Surveyors and Architects under the department to continue demonstrating a high level of innovativeness in the implementation of ongoing road projects.
This, the Chief Officer said will help to enhance service delivery to the citizens.
Speaking during the handing over ceremony for the new Director of Roads section Engineer Linus Yego at the main office of the section, Eng. Kiptalam highlighted the importance of innovativeness, team spirit and avoidance of bureaucracies for the success of the department to achieve its objectives.
He also challenged the team to explore any challenges and advice on new policies and regulations that can be adopted by the devolved unit..

This is even as Governor Jonathan Bii’s administration continues to enhance service delivery in the infrastructure sector.
“I would like to congratulate you on your new appointment. However, let everyone stretch over beyond the roads section and have their input felt in other sections and departments and be well conversant with what is happening in other departments so that when an opportunity comes you can be considered for the opportunity in those departments,” the Chief Officer advised.
Data on all roads
In addition, Eng Kiptalam urged the team to be in touch, consult and share with each other ideas for the benefit of the residents.
He also asked that they ensure they capture data on all roads that have been done by the county, asking them to be on top of all ongoing roads projects under the new administration.
“I congratulate the outgoing Director Eng. Benjamin Kirongo as he moves to the Public Works section as the new Director. Your support has been immense, we wish you well. CECM Eng Lagat and I are very grateful for your valuable support when we came in,” Eng Kiptalam added.
Director for Roads Eng. Linus Yego thanked the senior management at the department for having faith in him and assured of his support and to serve with diligence for the benefit of the residents of Uasin Gishu.

“Let’s work as a team and avoid negative energy and synergize our operations. I will serve with diligence and will always consult,” Director Yego noted.
On his part, the outgoing Director Benjamin Kirongo who now becomes the Director of Public Works said he will be available for any support and advice to the section.
He also emphasized the need for continuous progress in the programs being implemented by the regional government through the department.
Moreover, the department’s Director of Administration and Planning Wainaina Kimingi welcomed Director Kirongo to the Public Works directorate urging him to transfer the knowledge and expertise to the new office.
He expressed confidence that he is equal to the task ahead of him and “I am sure that the roads section is still in safe hands.”
