In a major boost to healthcare services, the County Government of Uasin Gishu on Wednesday, April 16, flagged off a consignment of essential drugs worth KSh 21 million to 138 health facilities across the county.

Uasin Gishu Governor Dr. Jonathan Bii, who presided over the flag-off, emphasized the importance of timely drug supply in improving patient care.

He revealed that the consignment is part of a larger order worth KSh 36 million placed with the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA), with the remaining KSh 14 million worth of drugs expected to be delivered within the next two weeks.

We have received drugs worth Ksh 21.5 million after our order of Ksh 36 million. The deficit of Ksh 14.5 million will be delivered in two weeks through the back order,” said Dr. Bii.

The governor also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to prioritizing healthcare, describing it as a core pillar of his development agenda.

Moreover, he lauded Mama Rachel Maternity Hospital for its exemplary service, noting the facility has seen a surge in patients due to its quality care.

Access to quality healthcare is non-negotiable and we are working to ensure every resident can walk into a facility and get the treatment they need without unnecessary delays,” Dr. Bii added.

The consignment is expected to ease drug shortages and enhance service delivery across the county’s health centres, bringing relief to both healthcare workers and patients.

Present were Deputy Governor Hon. Evans Kapkea, Health Services County Executive Dr Abraham Serem, Chief of Staff Dr. Patrick Chumba and Preventive and Promotive Health Chief Officer Dr. Paul Wangwe.
