The Kenya National U17 Girls Team, the Junior Starlets, has been drawn in Group C of the 2024 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup, set to take place in the Dominican Republic.
Junior Starlets were in Pot 4 during the draw conducted by the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) on June 23, 2024, in the host nation, the Dominican Republic.
The girls, who will be making their maiden appearance in the competition, are grouped with Korea DPR, Mexico, and England.
The FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup 2024 will be held in the Dominican Republic from October 16 to November 3, 2024.
Kenya’s first match will be against England on Thursday, October 17, 2024.
The Kenya U17 team beat Burundi 3-0 away in Bujumbura in the first left of the qualifier before sealing qualification with a 2-0 win at the Ulinzi Sports Complex in Nairobi.
In an earlier qualifier, they beat beat Ethiopia in a two-legged match.
This is the first time a Kenyan football team has qualified for a World Cup.
Kenya is one of the three African team at the competition.
Others are Zambia and Nigeria.
Zambia have been pulled against Japan, Poland and Brazil while Nigeria will face hosts Dominican Republic, Ecuador and New Zealand.

Group A: Dominican Republic, Ecuador, New Zealand, Nigeria
Group B: Spain, USA, Korea Republic, Colombia
Group C: Korea DPR, Mexico, Kenya, England
Group D: Japan, Poland, Brazil, Zambia
Top two teams in each the groups will qualify for the quarter finals.
