Learning at Kipkabus Boys High School in Ainabkoi Sub County has been suspended indefinitely after one of the dormitories at the school was burned.
Kipkabus Location Chief Muge Jeremiah says the dormitory was burned, allegedly, by students on Sunday morning.
In a phone interview with Uasin Gishu News, Muge said the incident happened as a majority of students had gone for their Sunday service.
“Students burned a dormitory known as Njiru at the school around 8.10 am when others had gone to church for the Sunday service. They used mattresses in the dormitory,” said the area chief.

After the incident, the school board of management and education officials held an emergency meeting during which it was resolved that the students be allowed to go home, until when they will be allowed to resume learning.
There had been claims that the incident was a result of students complaining over food, but the area chief said the school management had launched a probe to ascertain the cause – which is still unknown.
“The school has 243 students who were asked to leave the compound by around 11 am and 12 noon while those that are far had been allowed to stay around until this morning,” said Muge.
No student was injured during the incident.
