The County Government of Nandi through the department of Sports, Youth Affairs, and Art in collaboration with Athletics Kenya held the Mzee Barng’etuny inaugural Mountain Run in Tinderet Sub-County.
The run organized by the two was done in honor of the late Mzee Ezekiel Barng’etuny who was a long-serving politician from the Tinderet Constituency.
Barng’etuny liked business and economics but had a love and passion for athletics.
“With affection and urge for sports that the late mzee Barng’etuny had, we thought of making a tradition by celebrating our late politicians who made an impact on our county. We started with the Koitalel half marathon, which became a success. We look forward to organizing more races in the course of the year,” said Elly Kurgat CECM Sports, Youth affairs, and art.
As the first-ever mountain run to be held in Nandi, the race attracted more than a hundred athletes from different counties.

Speaking after the event, Paul Mutisya, the Athletics representative applauded the athletes as well as the County Government of Nandi for organizing a successful event.
