The new Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Amin Mohammed Ibrahim was on October 19, 2022, sworn into office at the Supreme Court of Kenya.
In a ceremony witnessed by the Chief Justice and President of the Supreme Court Lady Justice Martha Koome, the Acting Inspector General Noor Gabow and the Chairman of the National Police Service Commission (NPSC) Eliud Kinuthia, the new DCI Chief took his oath which was administered by the deputy chief registrar of the judiciary Paul Maina.
In his remarks after taking the oath, Amin said that he was happy to be back at the Directorate where he had served for most of his 33 years of service as a police officer and thanked President William Ruto, for his appointment.
The new DCI chief who committed to upholding professionalism and integrity in the discharge of his duties promised Kenyans that he would deliver on his mandate expeditiously and with fairness.
“I assure all Kenyans that I will be professional and shall work towards ensuring a safe and secure environment for Kenyans while respecting their human rights and fundamental freedoms,” said Amin.
Amin acknowledged the security challenges faced by Kenyans including robberies, human trafficking, money laundering, corruption, and the threat of terror among others which he promised to tackle in collaboration with other stakeholders in the criminal justice system.
“I will work with closely with all stakeholders including the judiciary, the ODPP, the correctional facilities, as well as the media in delivering justice to Kenyans firmly and with fairness,” added the new DCI director.

The new DCI boss who pledged to maintain an open door policy also shared his mobile phone number 0722415419 with Kenyans and urged anyone with a security issue that required his urgent attention to contact him.
While welcoming the new Director, Chief Justice Martha Koome, acknowledged the enormous responsibilities that come with the office of the Director of Criminal Investigations and pledged her support whenever called upon.
She said that the courts rely on investigations conducted by the Directorate and urged the DCI Director to work closely with other players in the National Council on Administration of Justice, which brings together state and non-state actors from the justice sector in fulfilling his mandate.
On his part, the Ag Inspector General Noor Gabow welcomed Amin whom he congratulated for his appointment and urged him to discharge his duties with fairness and in strict conformity to the law.
Gabow further urged Kenyans to be disciplined and obey the law as there was a new sheriff in town.
