From January next year, I will blow the whistle. Will you respond to my call?” Odinga asked.

We are in Christmas yes, but not many Kenyans will celebrate because the cost of living is unbearable and their pockets are torn. They (government officials) have torn our pockets and citizens must come out and demand change,” he added.

High taxes

Similar sentiments were echoed by Siaya Governor James Orengo who said they will not keep quiet when the current regime oppresses Kenyans.

He also asked Kenyans to heed Raila’s calls once he gives the signal.

We cannot stand idle and the oppressive regime punishes Kenyans with the high taxes that have led to a high cost of living. When you hear Baba’s whistle, please come out,” Orengo appealed.

On his part, the Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) party leader Eugene Wamalwa accused the Kenya Kwanza of introducing high taxes that have led to a high cost of living.

We are asking Zakayo to lower the cost of living as soon as possible or else he will have to climb down the tree because Kenyans are tired,” he added.

Meanwhile, DAP-K Deputy party leader Ayub Savula took a swipe at Kenya Kwanza leaders for claiming Odinga is too old to contest in the 2027 general elections.

Savula is also the Kakamega Deputy Governor.
