The second edition of the Trans Nzoia Governor’s Super Cup kicked off on Thursday at Yuya Primary School grounds in Cherangany Subcounty.
Governor George Natembeya graced the first games of the tournament.
Speaking at the event, Natembeya revealed that this year’s tournament will see 250 teams—200 men’s and 50 women’s participate.
The teams are drawn from across the county’s 25 wards and five sub-counties.
“The winning men’s and women’s teams will each take home Sh1 million, along with additional rewards such as jerseys, uniforms, balls, and nets,” Governor Natembeya announced.
In the opening match, Sibanga Ladies defeated Botwa Queens in a thrilling penalty shootout, securing a 3-2 victory after a 1-1 draw.
The second match featured men’s teams where Kaplamai FC defeated Yuya by 1 goal to 0.
