In a bid to improve human capacity and enhance efficiency in the proper use and management of road construction machinery, the County Government of Uasin Gishu has sent a team of 43 plant operators for advanced training in Nairobi to upgrade their skills.
The County has a fleet of 51 heavy machines which many devolved units don’t have. The team will be taken through rigorous training at Mantrac Kenya and Ganatra Plant and Equipment Limited which are renowned manufacturers and suppliers of state-of-the-art original equipment and advancement in technology.
While flagging off the team at the county headquarters in Eldoret town, Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii Chelilim accompanied by his Deputy Eng. John Barorot and the CECM for Roads, Transport and Public Works Eng. Joseph Lagat said the initiative was part of the county plans to ensure the operators handle the machines without challenges.
Governor Chelilim urged them to embrace new technology and besides continue to pursue more training to enhance their skills and cope with modern technology to be more productive.
He further assured them that his administration will work on improving their welfare as one way of motivating them to work harder as he implored them not to relax in their duties.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday, a team of senior officials from Narok County on a benchmarking at the department of Roads, Transport and Public Works applauded the County Government of Uasin Gishu for its progress and availability of heavy working machines.
