Uasin Gishu County Detailing Projects to Be Co-Financed By National Government

The Departments of Sports and Public Works are preparing reports ahead of the National government’s partnership in financing some projects in Uasin Gishu County.

About a fortnight ago, Governor Jonathan Bii Chelilim successfully requested President Dr William Ruto’s assistance in financing mega projects in the sports, trade, and health sectors.

Which Uasin Gishu projects will be co-financed by the national government?

The President acknowledged that the national government will take over financing and completion of Ziwa Level 5, Kesses Level 4, Turbo Level 4, MoiSoy Maize Milling Plant and Chagaiya High Altitude Training Camp.

On Tuesday, January 21, 2025, Chief Officers Mark Some (Youth and Sports) and his Public Works counterpart, Abraham Kiptalam, co-chaired a meeting of engineers and directors to finalize records ahead of the handover of the projects.

The report tasks ahead of the handover will include but are not limited to, detailing progress, status of structural works, expected expenses, and other details.

The two chief officers are tasked with supervising reporting and preparing records.

Since the inception of devolution, the Uasin Gishu County Government initiated several mega projects in the health sector but most of them are yet to be completed due to budget constraints.

Works on the Level 5 Hospitals have been going on, but at a slow pace, with the county last year cutting some of the budgetary allocations to the projects.

There have also been concerns over the completion of the MoiSoy Maize Milling Plant and Chagaiya High Altitude Training Camp which the county has equally invested millions.
