Ayub Gitonga Ali has been transferred as the Uasin Gishu County Police Commander. The transfer has been effected with Ali reportedly moved to the police headquarters in Nairobi.
The new Uasin Gishu police boss is Moses Mureithi.
Mureithi reported on January 6, 2022.
He previously served as the Police Commander in Lamu County.
The new police boss takes over at a time there have been concerns over rising insecurity in the county.

For the last few weeks, the county, especially areas around Eldoret town has recorded increased cases of robberies targeting MPesa shops and middle-level retailers.
The incidences led to a protest by a section of traders and locals at Naiberi trading centre – one of the areas that the criminals have been targeting.
Meanwhile, political leaders in the county have called for action to ensure the matter is addressed.
Address insecurity
Led by Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii Chelilim, the politicians said being home to the Head of State, they will expect nothing short of a county with little or no criminal cases.

“We will not accept that to continue and we urge the new police chief to act immediately and ensure that action is taken against the criminal gangs operating in this region,” the governor said.
“We will not attract investors if there is insecurity in this town,” he added.
Similar sentiments were also shared by Uasin Gishu County Woman Member of Parliament Gladys Boss Shollei and Kesses MP CPA Julius Ruto.
Shollei who spoke at Naiberi trading centre noted that they will not tolerate police laxity.
She further called for the transfer of all senior police officers.
