Uasin Gishu: Woman Burnt Beyond Recognition in Meibeki

Police officers in Uasin Gishu County have launched a probe into a shocking incident in which a woman was allegedly burnt beyond recognition in Meibeki Ward.

The body of the woman living in the village at the border of Uasin Gishu and Elgeyo Marakwet counties was discovered on Sunday morning.

Meibeki location Chief Paul Kiplimo says they suspect the woman was burnt in an incident that happened on Saturday night.

We woke up to this shocking incident where a woman has been burnt. We don’t know when the incident happened but we suspect it was on Saturday night,” Kiplimo said.

We have informed the police who have arrived here. The body was burnt beyond recognition,” he added.

The area chief says so far, they have no information on the motive behind the incident.

He has also asked members of the public who might have information relating to the incident to volunteer it to the police.

As of now, we don’t know what happened. There is no information of any individuals involved in the incident but we ask that if there is anyone with details that might help in the investigations to share it with authorities,” noted Kiplimo.

The incident has left locals in the area in shock.

Meanwhile, he body of the woman was moved to the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary even as police continued with their investigations.
