County Pledges Assistance to Girl Guides, Scouts Associations

The County Government of Uasin Gishu is committed to ensuring the smooth implementation of projects by the Girl Guides and Scouts Associations.

This is in what the county says will ensure that the Girl Guides and Scouts Associations have proper infrastructure and continue to help many young people become better persons in society.

On Monday, Uasin Gishu County Executive Committee Member for Roads Eng. Gideon Birir and his Education counterpart Joseph Kurgat led a multi-agency team to an approximately 20-acres piece of land in Ngeria Ward which Girl Guides and Scouts Associations officials have requested for County support in the demarcation to determine boundaries before construction of major projects.

The two County Officials assured the association’s leadership that the devolved unit is committed to providing the assistance required.

The Kenya Girl Guides Association was represented by the North Rift Regional trainer Mary Concepta Okoyo while the Scouts were represented by Assistant County Scouts Commissioner in Charge of training Bruce Nabwangu.

The Kenya Girl Guides Association is the national Guiding organization of Kenya.

Surveyors from the lands department take measurements of the land.

Founded in 1920, the girls-only organization became a full member of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts in 1963.

On the other hand, the Kenya Scouts Association is the national Scouting association of Kenya. Scouting was founded in British East Africa in 1910 and became a member of the World Organization of the Scout Movement in 1964.
