Elgeyo Marakwet: Kapkei VTC Officially Opened

Elgeyo Marakwet Governor Wisley Rotich on Friday commissioned Kapkei Vocational Training College (VTC) in Emsoo Ward, Keiyo North Sub County.

Already, 81 students have been admitted for training in the VTC’s first intake.

Speaking during the event, Governor urged youth in the County to take advantage and enroll for technical courses.

He named hairdressing and beauty therapy, garment making as well as building construction as some of the courses offered at the newly opened Kapkei VTC.

Rotich also affirmed his administration’s commitment to investing in Vocational Training Colleges.

Management and development of VTCs is a devolved function.

My administration will ensure that all our vocational colleges are equipped so as to offer quality training to trainees,” he said.

Next to be commissioned will be Maron VTC in Embobut Embolot ward in Marakwet East.

Present during the commissioning of Kapkei VTC was area Member of County Assembly (MCA) Christopher Cheboiboch and his colleague MCAs Stephen Cheruiyot, Dominic Chesire and David Biwott.

Also in attendance were Elgeyo Marakwet County Executives Edwin Kibor, Jason Lagat and Thomas Maiyo.
