Former Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet is the latest August 9, 2022, poll loser to land a government job.
Boinnet unsuccessfully vied for the Elgeyo Marakwet gubernatorial seat.
However, he lost during the UDA nominations to the current governor Wisely Rotich.
In the latest appointment published in the Kenya Gazette, Boinnet has been appointed the deputy national security advisor.

A statement from the Head of Public Service Felix Koskei further confirmed that Boinnet’s appointment is effective March 6, 2023.
“It is notified for the general information of the public that the National Security Council has appointed Joseph Boinnet to be the Deputy National Security Advisor,” Koskei said in the statement.
The appointment, the Head of Public Service said, was in line with the National Security Council Act of (No.23 of 2012).
Further, Amb. Monica Juma has been confirmed as the Secretary of the National Security Council.
Boinnet served as the Inspector General of Police from 2015. He previously served in the Kenyan National Intelligence Service.
After the end of his term, the former Police IG was appointed Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) in the Ministry of Tourism in 2019.
He however resigned to venture into politics – but was unsuccessful, finishing second in UDA party primaries.
His appointment has been welcomed by Elgeyo Marakwet Governor Wisley Rotich.
“Congratulations to my Brother Rtd IG Joseph Boinet on his appointment as Deputy national security advisor. Thank you H.E President Dr William Samoei Ruto Wish you well as you serve Kenya. Pongezi,” Rotich posted on his verified Facebook page.
