Residents and business owners at Chinese area, Racecourse Ward in Uasin Gishu continue to express immense gratitude towards the Uasin Gishu county firefighters.
The residents praised the firefighters for their quick response and effective action in extinguishing a fire that broke a a building near Villagio, on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at around 1 p.m.
Led by Jenifer Keter, the owner of the affected building which is used for both residential and business premises, the residents highlighted the firefighters bravery and dedication in tackling the blaze and protecting their property.
The cause of the fire which had started forming clouds of thick black smoke has not yet been known as investigations continue.
During the incident, Uasin Gishu fire firefighters responded with Sinotruck engine and county water bowser to battle the fire.
They were able to put it off within 15 minutes.
Governor Jonathan Bii also praised the team for its quick response.
“We applaud the swift response of our county’s well-equipped fire brigade in extinguishing a fire near the Villagio area along Eldoret-Kapsabet highway,” the governor said.
He also asked members of the public to raise an immediate alarm for a swift response incase of any fire incident, especially with the current dry and windy conditions that has led to increased fire risks.
