Wednesday, December 8, 2021, was a lucky day for hundreds of bodaboda operators in Eldoret town after they were treated to free fueling of their motorcycles by Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi.
During the rare occasion, the vocal and controversial MP offered to pay fuel for the riders operating within the Eldoret Central Business District (CBD).
Over 2,000 operators benefited from the gesture, as the legislator personally fueled each of the riders’ motorcycles.
Taking to his official social media pages – Twitter and Facebook, Sudi said he offered to provide free fuel to the operators in the spirit of Bottom-Up – an economic model being championed by Deputy President William Ruto.
The legislator further noted that under the DP Ruto’s government, more resources will be channeled towards Small and Medium Entreprises (SMEs) like bodabodas, hawkers, and mothers selling vegetables – popularly referred to as Mama Mbogas.
“Hustler government will aim at investing heavily on those at the bottom of the economic pyramid in order to elevate then. The government will pump its resources to SMEs like Bodabodas, Mama Mbogas, Hawkers with the aim to promote their daily hustle,” Sudi posted on his official Facebook page.
“In the spirit of BOTTOM UP I fueled close to 2000 Bodabodas operating within Eldoret town CBD,” he added.
