Uasin Gishu County Assembly Speaker David Kiplagat has announced that he will officially be launching his bid to vie for the Soy parliamentary seat on December 20, 2021.
Kiplagat, in a poster shared on his official Facebook page, points out that the event will be held at Ziwa Centre.
“20th December 2021 is the day. Welcome all,” he captioned the poster.
The County Assembly speaker has been hosting delegations from across the constituency, attending meetings and Harambee, as well as other social functions, as he seeks to sell his candidature to the locals.
Kiplagat, an ICT expert, has been the head of the Uasin Gishu County Assembly since 2017 and is now hoping to be the next Member of Parliament for Soy.
He is considered among the favorites to win the seat as the current Member of Parliament Caleb Kositany has already declared that he will vie for the Uasin Gishu gubernatorial seat.
Another candidate who would have been a key competitor is Jonathan Bii, but has also joined the race to succeed Governor Jackson Mandago.
Kiplagat will now face off with unionist Julius Kimurgor Korir alias Power for the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket for the seat.
