Avoid Divisive Politics, Kesses MP Aspirant CPA Julius Ruto Urges Competitors

Politicians eyeing the Kesses Member of Parliament seat in the upcoming poll have been asked to focus on preaching peace and unity during their campaigns.

Uasin Gishu County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Finance and Economic Planning CPA Julius Ruto who is among the aspirants says aspirants should avoid engaging in divisive politics.

CPA Ruto notes that popularizing the agenda should be the number one priority for all that will be seeking to be MP in the constituency.

“The politics of divisions on tribal, ethnic, color or even religious lines has no place in the society. Let us sell our agenda and preach peace. We have a diversified community here in Kesses which we must preserve,” noted the Finance CECM.

He also advised the youth to shun political leaders who might seek to use them to cause violence during elections campaigns.

The Kesses MP aspirant further asked the youth and all residents to be politically tolerant, by allowing other candidates to campaign in their areas.

“Don’t accept money from a politician that wants you to cause chaos for their own gain. Keep in mind that politics come and go, but you will be with your neighbor the rest of your life,” he said.

CPA Ruto who is seeking to take over leadership from the current Member of Parliament Dr. Mishra Swarup has pledged to ensure equality in sharing of resources amongst the constituents.

He also pledges to be a people-centered leader, who will listen, and prioritize the citizen’s needs.

The Uasin Gishu CECM is among a number of politicians that will be facing off for the UDA ticket.

Others interested in the seat on the UDA ticket include former MP James Bett and former Uasin Gishu County Assembly Speaker Isaack Terer.

Dr. Mishra will also be seeking re-election but he has not yet declared which party he will be using.
