Uasin Gishu: Fire Brigade Retrieve Body from Kamukunji Quarry, Respond to Fire Incidences

Personnel from the Uasin Gishu County firefighting section under the Roads, Transport and Public Works Department on Thursday, January 26, 2023, retrieved a body of a middle-aged man that had been dumped in an abandoned Mugoya quarry in Kamukunji area in Eldoret town.

The firefighting team was responding to a call from the residents of the Kamukunji area, who noticed the floating body, suspected to be a bodaboda rider.

According to acting Chief Fire Officer David Sitati, the body had head injuries with some documents found alongside it indicating that the deceased Crimson Misigo Azenga hailed from Likuyani sub-location in Kakamega County.

Philip Kemboi(a diver attached to the fire section ) dives into the water during the recovery of the body at the quarry.

The body was transported from the scene of the crime by police officers from Kamukunji police station to the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) mortuary.

In another incident on Wednesday night, the firefighting personnel responded swiftly to secure a homestead in the Sogomo area and salvaged animal feed worth millions of shillings from being burned after an adjacent building caught fire.

The firefighting team also rushed to Kaplolo trading centre in Moiben Sub County where the fire had gutted business premises. The team managed to save lives and stop the inferno from spreading to nearby houses.
